About Alan

First off, what is a certified athletic trainer?

Certified athletic trainers' (ATC's) are allied healthcare professionals that are skilled in injury prevention, emergency care, musculoskeletal evaluation, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. Don't be fooled, athletic trainers DO NOT just specialize in athletics, NOR do they only work with athletes! Alan has worked with people of all ages with or without injury!

My Story

A native of Chicago's western suburbs, Alan was involved in a variety of sports throughout most of his life. He always had a fascination of human anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, conditioning and rehabilitation. He also has a passion for helping others. Eventually, he stumbled upon the athletic training profession, which combined all of his passions!

Alan obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from North Park University in Chicago, Illinois. Without wasting time, he moved to Miami, Florida and acquired a Master’s degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Sports and Fitness from Florida International University (FIU). Although he values his collegiate education, he believes the difference was having great mentors and applying text book knowledge into real-life scenarios.

His previous experiences include chiropractic and outpatient physical therapy clinics, outpatient orthopedic practice (Hinsdale Orthopedics), Class 6A high school athletics (New Trier), Division 1 intercollegiate athletics (Northwestern University, Florida International University and SUNY University at Buffalo) and also professional sports (Chicago Sky and Chicago Machine).

Alan’s primary focus is on patient education, as he believes understanding proper movement and pain-free function, is the foundation to a healthy lifestyle.

In his free time, Alan enjoys being active, anything outdoors, snowboarding, traveling and hanging out with his dog, Buddy.
